Brand Feature: Sync Equestrian

In the spirit of community over competition, I'm excited to continue the Brand Feature Series. Each month, I feature another woman owned equestrian small business that I love. This month we get to know Natalia Graf, the creator of Sync Equestrian!
Imagine the comfort and stretch of your favorite yoga pants, plus the compression of your favorite running tights, plus the grip and security of your favorite breeches, a flattering compressive fit like you're wearing Spanx, all in one fashionable, stylish design to turn heads and get compliments on by even non riders off saddle.

This was actually a review one of our customers left, and I couldn't have described it better myself!

Tell me a bit about why you started the business.
I saw a huge gap in the equestrian clothing market when it came to fit and comfort. All the riding clothes I found on the market at the time were uncomfortable, not flattering at all and just not functional.

I wanted to create breeches and tops that were designed for high performance, a comfortable and flattering fit for ALL BODY TYPES ( we are very size inclusive, carrying up to 3XL), with a flexible material made for athletes, and lots of pockets space. All of our breeches come with super high adjustable waistbands, amazing stick and two giant pockets on each side that can even fit fly spray and apples, as well as grooming brushes, making everything so much more convenient at the barn.

What is your favorite thing about owning the business?
Bringing change to the industry. I love creating new risky designs, and different features that other brands haven't done yet. I also love designing. All of our apparel is designed by us from beginning to end, from material sourcing, to measurements, to prints and even the tiniest details. We don't just slap our logo on it. I love the whole process of it, and I even ride in all my final designs for weeks to ensure quality and durability is met before releasing them to the market.
So designing and providing solutions to equestrian women when it comes to fit is my favorite part, but I also love empowering other riders and women as well and I want everyone to feel beautiful and confident when they are wearing Sync Equestrian.

When I started Sync, it was important to me to also motivate and remind other women how amazingly strong and fierce they are. It takes a special kind of bravery to get on the back of an unpredictable animal, and a special kind of empathy level to bond with another species. I want all equestrians to know how much power they hold within themselves and try to remind them with inspirational emails, and the magnets with inspirational quotes on them included with every order.

Also, it's been great to bring on different size riders in our advertisements, as well as backgrounds, ages, looks and disciplines to show that everyone can be an equestrian and there isn't a one mold fits all when it comes to the love of the sport and horses.

We also give to our chosen charity, Egypt Equine Aid, at the end of every quarter. This charity has been very dear to me before I even started Sync, and it also pushes and motivates me to continue our growth, so we can give back more and more. I have never seen abuse as bad as what I have seen with the horses that Egypt Equine Aids treats. They also educate locals on how to properly take care of these beautiful animals, and pass out padded nosebands and halters in places where chains are still used, Additionally they educate equine vets there as well, since many of the vets over there are far behind in their education when it comes to equine in comparison to other countries. What has been the biggest challenge of owning the business?
Letting go of control. Sometimes I want to do everything myself, but I have learned that it's better to form a team and let other people focus on their strengths while I focus on mine.

Another challenge is turning off my brain. I am constantly thinking about the business and ideas. Meditating and putting my phone in a different room has really helped.

Knowing when to order new inventory before selling out was also something I struggled with but like everything in life, it has gotten better with practice.

What is some advice you would give to entrepreneurs?
Work on your mindset first.  Many times we hear entrepreneurs drilling the hard work ethic into others, however working on your mindset is so much more important and will bring you so much more success than drilling hours and hours every day.

Doing the work means working on yourself. It means growing internally, and being confident that you are a limitless being that can do anything she sets her mind to.  Fear of failure and fear of judgment for example, hold back people from doing what they truly want to. When you work on yourself (Reading self growth books, meditating, podcasts, analyzing yourself, journaling and the list goes on), you slowly start to break down the barriers that hold you back from achieving your greatness.

Tell us about some fun things customers can expect to see in 2022.
More colors, more styles, horse accessories and we are working on a children's line as well.
