Meet the Ambassadors: Laura Packer

We are proud to introduce our 2019 Ambassadors! We have 20 amazing equestrians on board this year to share and promote DB. Meet Laura...
Hi, I’m Laura and this past summer I moved to Maryland from Pennsylvania. I’ve been riding for about 22 years, which started by taking weekly lessons and then moved up to leasing a horse, and finally getting a horse of my own. I’ve always had a love for horses as long as I can remember. During my teenage years I did some showing with my leased horse and was very active in 4H. Once I was able to get my own horse, I really started to focus more on showing and I took my horse to every show I could afford to. My riding was always hunter/equitation based, but the hunter ring is my passion!

Tell us about your horses...
Paint My Dream, aka Nick is an eighteen year old American Paint Horse. I’ve had him just over fourteen years! Nick was my first horse and I got him as a three year old. With help from a trainer I brought him along, and we showed up to the Adult Amateur Hunter 3’ level. Nick is my true heart horse. Although, he can be a bit much sometimes with his sassiest and opinion, he has always been a challenge and always keeps me guessing.

River is a three year old Oldenburg filly that is the newest member of the family. I got her as a project horse. She’s such a sweet girl that loves to be groomed and snack on peppermints. She’s still very green, so we’re working on basics and taking it slowly.

What are your 2019 riding goals?
For Nick, he’s semi-retired so I hack him about three days a week but I’d love to do more outside of the ring and go trail riding! With River since she’s young and growing, I want her to learn the basics correctly. We’re currently working on building good muscle. During the summer I’d love to take her to some shows to hang out, and maybe even try out the hopeful hunter 2’ division!

What does being a Dapplebay Ambassador mean to you?
I love representing a company that values the horse. They’re the cornerstone of our sport. Dapplebay takes the love of the horse and beautiful equestrian apparel and together makes a product that is meaningful and unique. I’m excited to a part of a brand that I find so inspiring and supportive! #GoodRidesOnly
