Brand Feature: Avenue Equestrian
Why did you start the business?
I started Avenue Equestrian as a way to bring my business knowledge into the horse world. A friend of mine was running her own small business in the horse world and wanted some help staying organized and spreading the word about her business. What started off as a fun way to help her and pass time during quarantine, sparked an idea that turned into Avenue Equestrian.
Once I got started, I began seeing all of these incredible small businesses run by smart, motivated entrepreneurs. As I began to connect more and more with brands and the people who run them, I also learned more about their challenges.
I learned that equestrian business owners are not discouraged by the challenge, but rather by the fact that there aren’t enough hours in the day to get it all done.
Which has been the inspiration behind Avenue Equestrian - I am able to bring years’ worth of business knowledge and skills to help quickly accelerate growth for business owners of all kinds!
What is your favorite thing about owning the business?
Connecting with business owners. I have had a lot of jobs in my life, but none have inspired me as much as this one. I love that Avenue Equestrian is centered around connecting with my people - people who love horses and building businesses! It's been amazing to become a part of such a supportive community and I feel so grateful that I am able to learn from my clients just as much as they may learn from me!
What has been the biggest challenge of owning the business?
Staying focused. I always have ideas for new projects or ways I can improve my work. It can be really inspiring but also distracting. I have found a lot of success in minimizing how much I take on at once… my work is much better when I am able to stay focused on a few things at a time!
What is some advice you would give to entrepreneurs?
Don’t be afraid of failure. One of the mottos I live by is to fail fast and often. As a business owner, things are constantly changing, and as you try new ideas, you’re able to gather information quickly and make some meaningful decisions about your business.

I am excited to be launching my Holiday Planning Guide for Equestrian Entrepreneurs and heading to the Retired Racehorse Project in October. It will be the first of a few opportunities to start connecting with business owners in person! Beyond that I have a few exciting projects getting lined up for 2022 and am very excited to be welcoming new clients through the rest of 2021 and into 2022.
I have been working with Kelly for just over a year now, and she has helped me grow Dapplebay nearly 500% in that time. WHOA, right?!
