Performance equestrian apparel for every kind of crazy horse girl.

At Dapplebay, everything starts with original artwork and is built for real life with horses — the early mornings, the chaos, the wins, the in-between moments that make it all worth it. Because life is too short for boring gear or high-horse attitudes.

Our Story

Dapplebay started the way a lot of horse girl stories do — a little scrappy, a little accidental, and completely all-in.

Back in 2011, I was living in Georgia, very underprepared for the heat and even more underwhelmed by what I could find to wear. Nothing felt like me, nothing felt fun, and definitely nothing felt like the sport I loved.

So I made something.

One t-shirt. “Live Free & Jump XC.”

I posted it on Facebook… and it took off.

What started as one design turned into weekends at horse shows, packing orders on the floor, and building something I couldn’t quite see yet — but knew I wasn’t letting go of.

What we do now

Today, Dapplebay is still rooted in that same idea: design-led, original, and made for riders who actually live this life.

We create pieces that perform, fit beautifully, and feel like you — whether you’re riding, running errands, or sitting on a tack trunk for way too long.

Every print is original. Every detail is intentional.

And everything is designed to mix, match, and make getting dressed way more fun.

Founder Note

Hey there — I’m Leah, the horse-crazy dreamer and doodler behind Dapplebay. I’m the one designing every print, obsessing over every detail, and still very much that same horse girl who built her life around two things: horses and design.

Ever since I could hold a pencil, horses filled my notebooks and took over my imagination. But as the years have passed, Dapplebay has evolved right alongside me through the different seasons of my life.

These days, I’m seeing that same spark come full circle. I’m a mother now, and it turns out the "horse girl" gene is a powerful thing. My daughter was running around at 17 months old, "neigh-neighing" and pretending to be a horse; she had the feeding routine memorized before she was even two. Watching her run for her boots the second we head for the barn reminds me that this isn't just a hobby—it’s an internal fire that’s there from the very beginning.

It is always about the horses, but it’s also about what they ignite inside of us. There is a thread that connects us as horse women—a shared soul that finds its belonging in the barn aisle and its strength in the lessons we learn along the way.

It’s the end of a long summer day—horses tucked in, quietly munching hay while we sit on the floor, sharing stories and completely losing track of time. It’s the high highs, the lowest lows, the chaos, and the quiet moments. The tough lessons you try not to cry after and the nights you stay way too late because you just need to be there.

Horses have always been the constant for me, through every version of myself I’ve grown into. They shape our days, our priorities, and our friendships. Somehow, even on the hard days, they still give us something good.

That’s where Good Rides Only comes from. Not perfect rides. Not easy ones. Just the reminder that this life—as all-consuming as it can be—is a good one.

Today, my sketches might have moved from the corners of my school notebooks to my toddler's construction paper, but the obsession is exactly the same. Dapplebay is for every version of that fire—from the one nervously heading to their very first lesson to the rider who has spent decades in the saddle. We create pieces that bring more joy, personality, and confidence into your day, because life is better when you’re wearing something that actually feels like you.

Dapplebay has grown into more than I ever imagined, but the heart is the same: to celebrate this ridiculous, beautiful, horse-crazy life we’ve chosen. We’re here for the ones who get it, the ones who live for it, and the ones who are teaching the next generation the meaning of Good Rides Only.

Thank you for being part of this journey. It really does mean everything.

XOXO, Leah
